NOTES OF INTEREST FOR MEMBERS (2007 Competition Changes):

There are a few amendments to up coming games which everyone should take note. A few motions were put forth at the ACPBA Annual General Meeting and agreed to at the Judges forum. The following have been agreed to and will take effect this coming season:

  1. That the Grade 3 solo drumming requirements be changed from a March only to a March/Strathspey/Reel.
  2. That the tune requirements for professional drumming be enforced; that being 2 M/S/R's be submitted.
  3. The requirements for grade 5 Piobaireachd be changed from a ground only to the ground and 1st variation.
  4. That the tune requirements for grade 3 solo piping for the Strathspey and Reel be changed from 2 parts and 2 parts to: 4 parts and 4 parts respectively.

Also please note that all solo drumming events must have music accompaniment. If the competitor competes without accompanying music they will receive a score sheet, but no placing. The only exception to this is the practice pad contest.

I am confidant that these changes will be taken in stride, as they are more in keeping with other associations across Canada. We are in the process of updating the website constitution and these changes will be written in at that time.

Sincerely,
Elizabeth Danskin
President, ACPBA
