It is the 20th anniversary of the Hector Festival and the organizing committee is planning a celebration of pageantry and music with changes being made to the piping and drumming competition in 2006. After much deliberation, it has been decided to host an afternoon of concerts instead of solo and pipe band competitions.

The organizing committee welcomes all pipers, drummers and pipe bands to “The Calling of the Pipes” scheduled for Sunday, August 13 starting at 1:00pm. The afternoon will feature the Grade 2 Dartmouth Pipes & Drums in two twenty-minute concerts with other bands from the Grades 4 and 3 divisions also performing a twenty-minute set.

"The Hector Festival has been proud of hosting for the past 10 years solo and band competitions. Over the years committee members and volunteers have gotten to know solo and band players and looked forward to seeing you every year. We hope this will not change" said Lorna MacIsaac by email.
