The Piobaireachd Society of Antigonish presents a 2006 gold & silver medal tunes piobaireachd workshop and piping recital with internationally renowned performer and instructor Alasdair Gillies.

Workshops: November 19/20th, 2005, Celtic Studies Department, 2nd Floor, Immaculata Hall, St. Ninian Street, Antigonish, NS

Recital: Immaculata Auditorium, 7:30 PM, November 19th. Recital admission: Seniors, students and workshop participants $8.00. Adults $10.00. Children under 12 accompanied by an adult free.

Saturday, November 19th: Instruction will be offered in the performance of the 2006 Gold Medal Tunes. Time: 9:30 to12:00 and 1:30 to 4:00. Tunes: MacIntosh of Borlum’s Salute (PS Book 12); Fair Honey (PS Book 9); Isabel MacKay (PS Book 6, and K); Nameless (PS Book 12, page 378); Lord MacDonald’s Lament (PS Book 13); Old Men of the Shells (PS Book 7, and K); Duntroon’s March (PS Book 14); Lament for the Only Son (PS Book 6, and K) (Please note: these tunes will be required for the Gold Medal events at the ACPBA Piobaireachd Challenge in May of 2006.)

Sunday, March 6th: Instruction will be offered in the performance of the 2006 Silver Medal Tunes. Time: 9:30 to 12:00 and 1:00 to 3:30. Tunes: Chisholm’s Salute (PS Book 14, and K); The Duke of Atholl’s Salute (PS Book 14); MacCrimmon Will Never Return (K); The Battle of Strome (PS Book 5); Grain In Hides and Corn In Sacks (PS Book 5, and K); Weighing From Land (PS Book 2, and K) (Please note: these tunes will be required for the Silver, Nickel, Bronze, Copper and Pewter Medal events at the ACPBA Piobaireachd Challenge in May of 2006.)

Workshop fee: $60.00. One day only: $40.00. Please register by mail prior to the workshop and indicate day(s) attending. Pre-register by mail addressed to The Piobaireachd Society of Antigonish, 43 Hillcrest Street, Antigonish, NS B2G 1Z2. Payment must accompany registration. Make cheque payable to The Piobaireachd Society of Antigonish. Late registrations may be accepted depending on room and an additional fee of $10.00 per day will be charged.
