BEGINNINGS OF THE ACPBA: 1976

Piping and drumming workshop planned for Easter weekend - a great success. Registration fees for members increased to $2.00. Drum Fanfare event added to list of approved competitive events on a motion by Scott Williams. Neil McKenna donates trophy in honour of Clarence Hunt. Constitution approved and printed in booklet form. Roy Stanley-Chisholm donates trophy for Grade 4 Champion Supreme. Lorne Kenny named president but dies within a week. Scott Williams named secretary. Jack MacIsaac is named acting President until the fall general meeting.

In October, MacIsaac declines nomination to become President due to his political activities which are time consuming. Nominations are called for from the floor, but all nominees decline. Danny MacIntyre chairs the meeting in the hopes that another app eal at the end of the meeting will result in the position being filled. Games organizers are billed for past dues, some as much as $200.00. Scott Williams and Neil McKenna appointed to oversee the production of a standard massed band music book for the province.

In November, Joan Smith agrees to take on the job of President. It is decided to award championship supreme awards at the fall general meeting hereafter as the trophies were not presented at the Inverness Gathering as planned. Department of Recreation agrees to provide another grant to the Association. Harold MacDonnell urges association not to get its hopes up as we have been disappointed so often before.
