BEGINNINGS OF THE ACPBA: 1969
April 18, 1969 - first informational meeting held in Halifax. Charles MacDougall of Antigonish named chairman.
June 14, 1969 - first formal meeting held in Antigonish. Mr. Willis Hall named first president. Aim of the Association is two-fold: 1) to join together in one fraternity all pipers, drummers, pipe bands and their supporters, and 2) to devise and operate a set of rules and regulations to govern competitions in the province of Nova Scotia.
- Competitions classified as novice, junior under 14, senior 18 and under, adult and professional. Bands are classified as junior girls, junior boys, junior mixed, and senior. Junior means no member over 18.
- Provincial start-up grant of $5,000.00 received.
