ATDH: PIOBAIREACHD CHALLENGE By Chief Steward Rick Crawford
May 19, 2006. Antigonish, Nova Scotia

The Piobaireachd Challenge took place at the Dr. Aurther Hines High School. It has been a long time since the games were have been held at this venue but none the less it was a great place to conduct the Challenge. The Judges for the Piobaireachd Challenge was Michael Grey from Dundas, Ontario and Bruce Gandy of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

The winners are:
The Pewter Medal was won by Ross MacNeil of Antigonish,
The Copper Medal was won by Michael Flynn of Halifax,
The Bronze Medal was won by Cindy Gillis of Tantallon,
The Nickel Medal was won by Mary Chisholm of Antigonish,
The Silver medal was won by Nick vanOuwerkerk from Summerside PEI.

After the earlier medals were decided, Bruce Gandy and Michael Grey judged the Gold Medal with about 30 spectators on hand to watch as James Beaumont pipe on to the Gold Medal. James, a resident of Scotland, is currently the Pipe Major at the College of Piping in Summerside and also plays with the Simon Fraser University in BC. He will be very busy this summer.

Congratulations must be extended to all who participated and to those who won. A special thanks to Scottish Lion for providing gift certificates to the winners of each grade. And finally as usual the organizers did a great job.
